Quantum fluctuations in the incommensurate phase of CsCuCl3 under transverse magnetic field
نویسندگان
چکیده
In low magnetic field, the stacked, triangular antiferromagnet CsCuCl3 has a helical structure incommensurate (IC) in the chain direction. The IC wavenumber (from neutron–diffraction experiments) decreases with increasing field transverse to the chains, as predicted by classical theory, but then it has a plateau almost certainly caused by quantum fluctuations. Linear spin– wave theory fails because fluctuations have particularly large effects in the IC phase. An innovative phenomenological treatment of quantum fluctuations yields a plateau at approximately the observed value and the observed fields; it predicts a transition to the commensurate phase so far not observed. Results depend sensitively on a weak anisotropy. 64.70.Rh, 75.10.Jm, 75.25.+z, 75.50.Ee Typeset using REVTEX

Fluctuation–induced phase in CsCuCl3 in transverse magnetic field: Theory
CsCuCl3 is a quantum triangular antiferromagnet, ferromagnetically stacked, with an incommensurate (IC) structure due to a Dzyaloshinskii– Moriya interaction. Because of the classical degeneracy caused by the frustration, fluctuations in CsCuCl3 have extraordinarily large effects, such as the phase transition in longitudinal magnetic field (normal to the planes, parallel to the IC wavenumber q)...

Quantum phases and fluctuations in correlated electron systems with frustration and competing interactions are reviewed. In the localized moment case the S=1/2 J1 - J2 - model on a square lattice exhibits a rich phase diagram with magnetic as well as exotic hidden order phases due to the interplay of frustration and quantum fluctuations. Their signature in magnetocaloric quantities and the hig...
متن کاملMagnetic Properties in a Spin-1 Random Transverse Ising Model on Square Lattice
In this paper we investigate the effect of a random transverse field, distributed according to a trimodal distribution, on the phase diagram and magnetic properties of a two-dimensional lattice (square with z=4), ferromagnetic Ising system consisting of magnetic atoms with spin-1. This study is done using the effectivefield theory (EFT) with correlations method. The equations are derived using...
متن کاملMagnetic Properties and Phase Transitions in a Spin-1 Random Transverse Ising Model on Simple Cubic Lattice
Within the effective-field theory with correlations (EFT), a transverse random field spin-1 Ising model on the simple cubic (z=6) lattice is studied. The phase diagrams, the behavior of critical points, transverse magnetization, internal energy, magnetic specific heat are obtained numerically and discussed for different values of p the concentration of the random transverse field.

One dimensional quantum Ising model with nearest neighbor interaction in transverse magnetic field is one of the simplest spin models which undergo quantum phase transition. This model has been precisely solved using different methods. In this paper, we solve this model in uniform magnetic field -Jgσxn precisely using a new method called Continuous Unitary Transformations (CUT) or flow equation...
